Polymer Process Aid (PPA) masterbatches are based on fluoropolymers / fluoroelastomers and are generally used for extrusion process of polyolefins. They migrate from the polymer melt and coat the metal surfaces of extruder wall and the die region which provides a lubricating effect. This reduces the stress on the polymer melt at the die exit and helps eliminate melt fracture / shark skin effect.
Eliminate Die Build up thus increase productivity due to lesser frequency of stoppage for die cleaning
Reduce back pressure
Increase speed of extrusion without melt fracture
and thus increasing output
Reduce time and material required for colour changeovers
Reduce temperature of processing and thus lower energy costs
Improve gloss and surface finish
Reduce polymer gels in the product
Typical end product applications are LLDPE films, HDPE Pipes, Cables and blow moulded bottles,
PP sheets, foams, cast and oriented films.
A higher dosage is required to condition the extruder while starting so that adequate fluropolymer is available to coat the metal surfaces. A lower maintenance dose is required during continuous Products to supplement the fluorpolymer which is gradually abraded from surfaces.
